Projection Mapping
The project
After a two year break, The Festival of Light at Longleat returned with The Wondrous Worlds of Roald Dahl, transforming over 30 acres into a magical lantern trail.
We were commissioned to design and install the showstopping finale. A 20-metre projection-mapped Christmas tree, forming the centerpiece of the festive celebrations.

The challenge
The Festival of Light is one of the UK’s most beloved Christmas attractions, drawing huge crowds every year. The tree not only had to complement the immersive lantern trail, but serve as a technical and creative spectacle in its own right. As well as this, we needed to ensure it delivered on durability for the two month show duration.

The solution
We designed and built a 20-metre steel-framed tree embedded with over 100,000 LEDs, hand-stitched into an exact grid pattern. For the lighting, we used 14 pixelators and programmed with animated sequences, all controlled via a 2×2 Disguise media servers.
Furthermore, we used seven Panasonic 8500 Lumen projectors in VIZBOX enclosures to deliver 3D video-mapped content across both the tree and a 52-metre-wide stable building.
The creative team produced original animations, motion graphics, and festive content set to a bespoke soundtrack of traditional Christmas songs.

The impact
The Enchanted Christmas Tree show became a focal point of the Festival of Light, delighting thousands of visitors each evening. Blending large-scale projection mapping, character animation, and dazzling lighting effects, the installation elevated Longleat’s festive offering, cementing its position as one of the UK’s most spectacular Christmas events.
