Water Show Spectacular
The project
Commissioned by Utopia Entertainment, we designed Symbio, the world’s first 360-degree water screen show, located at Ocean Park in Hong Kong.
The spectacle combines water screens, projection, fire, fountains, lighting, and fireworks all working together to tell the story of two dragons battling and shaping the world. This was inspired by the Taoist Yin and Yang motif.

The challenge
The show needed to be a nightly draw, wrapping up visitors’ park visits while being technically ambitious. Delivering a 360° water screen that could act both as a projection surface and as part of a dancing fountain (changing shape and moving in sync with the music) posed significant technical and design challenges. Additionally, integrating powerful surrounding effects flame, water jets, light, fireworks while ensuring safety, visual coherence, and audience entertainment was essential.

The solution
We developed the full creative, technical, and programming scope. This included the design and execution of the 360° water screen with surrounding water effects. As well as creation of original CG animation, show control systems, and on-site technical programming and operations. Effects such as flame on water, lighting, fireworks, dancing fountains, and synchronization with a dramatic soundtrack were all managed by LCI.

The impact
Since launch, Symbio has become a nightly spectacle drawing in excess of 5,000 guests each evening, providing a compelling end-of-day attraction at Ocean Park. The show enhances visitor satisfaction, increases time spent in the park, and helps the park maximize use of its facilities after dark. It stands as a benchmark in multimedia water shows and demonstrates how combining storytelling with technical innovation can deliver memorable guest experiences.
