Immersive Sky Projection
The project
Commissioned by Darling Events, the LCI team created a mesmerising immersive sky projection for a private press event held in a subterranean room with a curved ceiling. It was the perfect canvas for a dynamic, emotive experience showcasing Primark’s latest women’s collection.
The challenge
Transform a unique, enclosed space with a curved or domed ceiling into a fully immersive environment that would captivate guests and visually echo the theme of the collection from bright desert skies to tranquil starlit nights.
The solution
Immersive Projection Mapping: Using 6 Optoma W316ST short throw projectors (3,600 lumens each), we projected a stunning daytime desert skyscape that gradually shifted into a nighttime starscape. Shooting stars elegantly streaked across the ceiling, elevating the room’s ambiance.
Seamless Lighting Integration: LED uplighting synced with the projection and controlled via DMX from the lighting desk, connected to the 7th Sense media server to automate mood-enhancing scenes.
Technical Infrastructure: Fibre optic distribution connected all projectors to the control point, delivering crisp visuals without lag or interference.
Cutting-Edge Media Servers: Powered by a 6-channel Nucleus media server by 7th Sense Design and a Casio XJA-257 projector linked to a media server running AV Stumpfl Wings Platinum 5, ensuring smooth, high-quality playback.
The impact
The event became a visual and atmospheric masterpiece, fully immersing guests in a breathtaking transition from day to night right above their heads. The curved ceiling venue proved ideal, amplifying the immersive effect and leaving attendees wowed.
